Pursuit on I-15 produces arrest, one rammed patrol car

police

ST. GEORGE – A vehicle chase on I-15 resulted in the ramming of a Utah Highway Patrol car Saturday.

UHP Trooper Lawrence Hopper said officers attempted to pull over a vehicle near mile post 5 for multiple vehicle violations. The driver, a 27-year-old female from California, refused to stop.

UHP officers pursued the vehicle until mile post 43, when spikes were laid across the road. The female lost control of the vehicle after running over the spikes, which led to the ramming of an UHP patrol car. No one was harmed in the incident.

Though speeds during the chase never went over 65 mph, Hopper said, the incident was still considered a high risk pursuit.

The female was arrested for evading and fleeing by vehicle and aggravated assault, by 3rd degree felonies, and expired vehicle registration and a window tint violation, both misdemeanor offenses.
