ST. GEORGE – The St. George Police Department is seeking a man wanted for aggravated assault and robbery.
On Saturday, April 28, St. George Police responded to the Best Value Inn at 60 W St. George Blvd on a report of an assault. Officers learned that a woman and Orlando Simpson had robbed a man staying at the motel.
The victim, a 50-year-old male, observed the woman and Simpson working on their automobile in the parking lot of the motel and offered to let them use his room telephone and bathroom. The woman took him up on this offer.
The woman and Simpson returned to the room a short time later. The woman knocked and the victim answered his door. When he opened the door, she entered, with Simpson following behind before the victim closed the door.
Simpson pulled a file that had one end with a sharp tip on it. He pulled the file on the victim and demanded money and keys to his automobile. When the victim did not comply quickly enough, Simpson beat him with the file.
Simpson took the car keys, but no money was taken from the victim.
As Simpson was attempted to take the car, the victim began to stop him while calling for help as he tried to pull the suspect away from his car. Simpson ultimately fled the motel on foot. The woman was still on scene when officers arrived.
