Region 9 baseball; season briefing

ST. GEORGE – With just two and a half weeks left in the high school baseball season the Snow Canyon Warriors still sit atop the Region.

The Warriors are the No. 2 ranked team in all of 3A and considered one of the best teams in the state.

The Canyon View Falcons are in second place in the Region with the Dixie Flyers and Cedar Redmen right behind them in a tie for third.

The Desert Hills Thunder are on the outside looking in for the fourth and final playoff spot. The Thunder are the only team to beat the Warriors in region play this year. The Thunder are in fifth place after a tough loss at Cedar last night.

The Pine View Panthers and Hurricane Tigers are the only two teams that are eliminated from contention. The Panthers are 2-6 in region play with both wins coming over the Tigers.

The Tigers take on the Thunder at Desert Hills High School and the Panthers take on the Flyers at Dixie High School, both on Friday at 7 p.m.

Also on Friday, the top two teams go head-to-head, with the Warriors playing host to the Falcons. First pitch is set for 7 p.m.
