ST. GEORGE – Thrill-seekers High Fly’n Zip Lines are bringing the excitement of aerial adventure to the heart of Dixie.
High Fly’n was established in December 2011 by three businessmen from St. George. Co-owner Scot Rountree has several years of experience operating zip lines in locations across the country, including Hawaii and Las Vegas. The staff recently returned from a month-long stay in Panama City Beach, Florida, where their towering adventure was an immensely popular attraction among the spring break crowd.
Operations manager Bryce Payne said that after researching numerous venues in the county, his colleagues decided to erect the zip line in the massive parking lot of Sunset Corner, a business plaza at the intersection of Sunset Boulevard and Bluff Street near the Stadium 8 theaters.
Assembly is currently ongoing. When complete, the ride will stretch 700 feet and soar 50 feet above ground. The multiple-cable system can accommodate as many as 4 passengers simultaneously.
“We left Florida early to set up here,” he said. “We want our hometown people to experience the ride.”
The zip line will open at 10 a.m. on April 14 and is expected to run until May 19. On grand opening day, a single ride costs $10, with re-rides available for $5. First-ride prices will then return to the regular price of $15.
After a brief stay in St. George, Payne said that High Fly’n plans to continue traveling throughout the summer. Stops will include San Diego, Sacramento and Los Angeles.
He urged, “Don’t miss the zip line. Most people have to travel a significant distance to find anything similar. This is a very unique opportunity for the people of Southern Utah to experience for a limited time.”

At last…something exciting and adventurous for locals to do that is reasonably priced. Rather funny how it is that the owners of this venue are St. George natives….they don’t gouge the people.
If I was made of money, one of the first things I’d do, and a great investment to the area, is open either a waterpark that could entertain and cool off citizens from all over the region for 8-9 months out of the year. Or a theme park.

My wife and I were talking about the same thing only a few days ago! She said, “A great attraction for the area would be a waterpark” and I agree. I hope someone can get one up and running one day.
This town needs cable cars running from all the high points surrounding the st george downtown area.

it should go around on top of the dixie rock, to east ridge, to that hill with the cell phone towers on it in bloomington, to the old aiporthill, back up to the turtle road.

could even put one or two dipping down into the downtown area and make it public transit instead of just a circle tour.

i’d definitely pay for a round trip ticket on the thing for when family came to visit or just to spend an hour or two making the circuit with a camera.
