SACRAMENTO, CA – The Utah Jazz used an Al Jefferson put-back with 0.9 seconds left in the game to beat the Sacramento Kings 103-102 last night in Sacramento.
The win extended the Jazz winning streak to five games, the longest winning streak for the Jazz this season. The win also keeps the Jazz within a half-game of the eighth and final playoff spot. The Denver Nuggets hold the final playoff spot and take on the Jazz tonight in Salt Lake City.
Jefferson led the way for the Jazz with a game high 26 points. Jefferson also pulled down seven rebounds. Gordon Hayward added 18 points, Devin Harris scored 14 points, Derrick Favors helped out with 12 points and Paul Millsap chipped in with 10 points.
Tyreke Evans scored 25 points off the bench to lead the Kings. Big man DeMarcus Cousins added 22 points and 18 rebounds, while Jason Thompson scored 19 points and Marcus Thornton helped out with 16 points.
Jimmer Fredette only played eight minutes off the bench and went 2-6 from the field and scored 6 points.
The winning streak not only has helped the Jazz get back into the playoff hunt but the Jazz are only one-and-a-half games out of the fourth playoff spot. The top four seeds get home court advantage in the first round of the playoffs and that is big because the Jazz are a much better team at home.
