ST. GEORGE – Michael Small, former president of the Democrats of Southern Utah, will make an official announcement regarding his candidacy for the newly redistricted Second Congressional District on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Best Western Abbey Inn, 1129 S. Bluff St., St. George, at the March meeting of the DOSU.  The public is invited to attend the announcement. Representative Jim Matheson currently holds this seat and has chosen to run in the 4th Congressional District in November.

Small, a retired BLM wildlife biologist, a veteran, and an active member of Citizens for Dixie’s Future, believes he is qualified to address many of the issues facing the voters in the 2nd Congressional District.  One of his goals is to work across the aisle in the U.S. House of Representatives to find reasonable answers to the difficult questions facing the government at this time.

Those interested in attending this dinner meeting of the Democrats of Southern Utah may make reservations with Renate at 628-2841. The Cost for the dinner is $15 per person; however there is no charge to attend the meeting.

Small joins a burgeoning field of candidates that currently includes fellow Democrats, Dean Collinwood and Jay Seegmiller, as well as 11 Republican candidates and three third-party candidates.
