St. George – In less than two weeks, hundreds of people from around the globe will gather in St. George to test themselves at the Black Hill Speedway as part of SkyWest Airlines’ 2012 Mini Indy. This year’s premier charity racing event promises intense competition, great views of Utah’s Dixie from a top-notch racing track and the chance to give back to the Southern Utah community on Friday, March 23.

Twelve years ago, the Mini Indy groundwork was laid as a handful of teams living in and around St. George assembled to mix fun with fundraising. The event was a huge success, and today, SkyWest’s Mini Indy has contributed more than $800,000 to United Way Dixie, helping to support countless individuals. Nearly 40 teams are preparing to hit the track this year with hopes of bringing home the coveted title: Mini Indy Grand Champion.

This year’s race holds particular significance as SkyWest Airlines celebrates 40 years of flight! The airline began in 1972 with a simple goal: to provide reliable service to St. George travelers. The commitment to SkyWest’s hometown remains unwavering today; in addition to Mini Indy and numerous local contributions, SkyWest provides world-class air service to thousands of Southern Utah travelers.

Hosted by SkyWest Airlines and the City of St. George, Mini Indy’s checkered flag will fly at 10 a.m. The adrenaline-pumping competition promises food, fun and racing – all to raise significant funds for charity.
