World’s best tee it up at the Blue Monster

DORAL, Fla. – The world’s best golfers set their sights on Doral, Fla. for the Cadillac Championship.

The Cadillac Championship is one of four World Golf Championship events. The World Golf Championships include golfers from the PGA, European, Asian, Japan, Australasia, and South Africa Tours.

The field consists of 75 players.

• The top 50 players, including any players tied for 50th place, from the Official World Golf Ranking (as of February 29, 2012).

• The top 50 players, including any players tied for 50th place, from the Official World Golf Ranking (as of March 5, 2012).

• The top 30 players from the final 2011 FedExCup Points List.

• The top 10 players from the FedExCup Points List in 2011 (as of March 5, 2012).

• The top 20 players from the final 2011 European Tour Order of Merit

• The top 10 players from the European Tour Race to Dubai Standings in 2012 (as of February 29, 2012).

• The top 2 players from the final 2011 Japan Golf Tour Order of Merit.

• The top 2 players from the final 2011 Australasian Tour Order of Merit

• The top 2 players from the final 2011 Sunshine Tour Order of Merit.

• The top 2 players from the final 2011 Asian Tour Order of Merit.

The field consists of 14 major champions including Tiger Woods, Phil Michelson, and Rory Mcilroy. Mcilroy won last week’s tournament and is the new No. 1 golfer in the world.

The Cadillac Championship has golfers from 16 countries and pairs up the World’s top players in the same groups. World No. 1 Mcilroy plays with World No. 2 and World No. 3, Luke Donald and Lee Westwood, in the first two rounds on Thursday and Friday.

Woods, who has won this event six times, plays alongside the defending champion, Nick Watney, and Sergio Garcia. The golf world will watch to see if this is the week Woods’ winless streak ends. Woods played his best round in over three years on Sunday, shooting a 62 and tying for 2nd place.
