ST. GEORGE – The Hurricane Tigers cap off a great night for Region 9, beating Morgan 54-43 in the Burns Arena on the campus of Dixie State College of Utah.
The Tigers advance to take on the Cedar Redmen tomorrow at 9 p.m.
Colton Marshall led the way for the Tigers, scoring a game high 15 points. Taylor Parker and Benson Rich each added 11 points for the Tigers. Weston Yardley and Boston Gubler also chipped in eight points as well.
The big question coming in was: Can the Tigers handle the Morgan pressure? The Tigers turned the ball over 19 times in the ball game. Morgan just could not capitalize, shooting under 30 percent from the field and 5.6 percent from the 3-point line, going 1-18.
The Tigers also caused 18 turnovers and shot 45 percent from the field, but went 2-9 from deep. The Tigers outscored Morgan 28-12 in the paint.
The Tigers will take on the Redmen for the third time this season. The Tigers split with the Redmen earlier in the season. The Redmen won in Cedar by 2 and the Tigers won by 10 in Hurricane.
