Local author to be featured at book signing

WASHINGTON CITY – A local author will be at Rachel’s Coffee in Washington City for a book signing.

William W. Way, Jr., author of “Tales from the Orchard,” will be at Rachel’s Coffee from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. to sign copies of his book on Saturday, Feb. 25.

“Tales from the Orchard” is a collection of short, fictional stories based around seven-year-old Jamie Archer and his family.  Each story tells of the boy’s interactions with his family, such as dealing with the birth of a little sister to the advancement of age experienced by his grandparents.

“If you’re a sentimental person you’re going to laugh and you’re going to cry,” Way said in a previous interview with St. George News.

Way said the inspiration for the book was derived from stories he wrote as a way to calm down after particularly trying days at work. He would choose a specific character trait he saw as uplifting then crafted a story around it. These stories became the bedrock of what would become “Tales from the Orchard.”

“The stories brought me back to who I wanted to be,” Way said.

When people read the book, Way said he hopes it will give them “an uplifting feeling there is a good and positive future.”

Rachel’s Coffee is location at 471 W. Telegraph St. in Washington.

“Tales of the Orchard” is available through Tate Publishing  or ordered from Way directly . Orders direct from the author will be autographed. Copies can also be ordered through Amazon.com and Barnes and Noble.
