Washington County Standoff on I-15 continues, Road Detours

WASHINGTON COUNTY – Law enforcement officers and negotiators continue to hold vigil in the hostage situation which started and continued to develop since 11 a.m. this morning. Kevin Kitchen of Utah Department of Transporation said that the standoff is expected to continue for sometime into the night. It covers an 11.5 mile stretch of I-15 from just above the I-15 / Hurricane interchange to just below Toquerville exit. UDOT is now placing lights and message boards for incoming traffic as this vigil continues.

Current road detours are as follows:

Northbound traffic on I-15 is being routed off I-15 at Exit 16 and detoured through Hurricane, La Verkin and Toquerville, reconnecting to I-15 at Exit 27.

Southhbound traffic on I-15 is being routed off I-15 at Exit 27 and detoured through Toquerville, La Verkin and Hurricane, reconnecting to I-15 at Exit 16.

Leeds community residents may reach their community through the Quail Lake round to I-15 frontage road.

Further details of the ongoing negotiations with the parties involved are not expected to be forthcoming until this matter is resolved.
