Ott helps Thunder beat Falcons

CEDAR CITY – Tyler Ott led the Desert Hills Thunder with 19 points in the Thunder’s 75-64 win over the Canyon View Falcons.

The Thunder had four players in double figures including Ott. Ty Rutledge and Jaden Beckstrand each added 14 points while Jace Wade finished with 10 points. Mike Needham capped off his great day by scoring nine points. Earlier in the day, Needham signed to play college football at SUU.

The Thunder struggled early, only leading by three at the break, but broke the game open in the third-quarter outscoring the Falcons 24-16 extending their lead to 11 points.

Chad Corry scored a game high 23 points including four 3-pointers and Kameron King added 21 points in the losing effort for the Falcons.

The Thunder remain tied for first place in Region 9 with a record of 7-2 in region play. The Thunder host Snow Canyon on Friday at 7 p.m.

The Falcons fall to 0-8 in region play and have a week off before hosting Pine View’s Panthers on Feb. 8 at 7 p.m.
