Gear Girls reality show to hold auditions in St. George

ST. GEORGE – Local women will have the chance to join in a statewide audition for a reality show about women who refurbish and rebuild racing cars and motorcycles.

A reality show that is 22 months in development is about to take shape in Utah in 2012. Gear Girls, as it will be known, is about women refurbishing, rebuilding and racing cars and motorcycles. Open to females 18 and up, the show intends to revolutionize how people perceive women in motor sports and television in general, said Dalin Christiansen, executive producer.

He said women will have the opportunity to be more than just calendar spokesmodels in bikinis. Other details about the show are still secret, but Christiansen said “Gear Girls”’ beauty comes from the personal journey the viewers take with the

“There will be educational benefits that viewers will enjoy just from passively watching at home…how to properly diagnose a car, and know the difference between a shock and damper,” Christiansen said.

All interested women have to do is pay a $25 entrance fee, according to Keith Koskan, the show’s marketing

“They’ll fill out a one-page form with their personal information, then we’ll take a photo and do a quick Q&A film session,” Koskan said. Entrants will receive a publicity photo and copy of their audition for personal

The fee each female pays will automatically enter them in a random drawing to be selected as the 16th and final cast member, Koskan added.

Koskan said if the women didn’t do well in their audition, they may opt to buy multiple chances to be on the show. The registration process began Jan. 21-22 in Logan and continues through April at various locations in

All women who have registered may be selected for the finals held in Salt Lake City this May.

From that point producers will select 15 females for the cast, and one lucky female will be selected from a random drawing for the final

“Whether their audition went well, it won’t matter, if they are drawn, they’re in the cast,” Koskan said. The show’s grand prize is worth up to $100,000, he added.

Selected girls will also participate in promotional events leading up to production, giving them a chance to become big names before the show is scheduled to begin production this summer.
