Body found in Grand Canyon National Park

Grand Canyon, Ariz. – At approximately 7:55 a.m., the Grand Canyon Regional
Communications Center received a report of a deceased person on the South
Kaibab Trail.

Upon arriving at the scene, rangers found the body of an unidentified male
about one-third mile from the trailhead which is located near Yaki Point.
Rangers made their initial investigations, then transferred the body to a
litter and prepared it for transport.

The body was carried by rangers to the rim and then transported to the
park’s Emergency Operations Center where it will be transferred to the
Coconino County Medical Examiner.

An investigation into the incident is being conducted by the National Park
Service in collaboration with the Coconino County Medical Examiner.
