ST. GOERGE – Police arrested man suspected of storage burglary on Thursday

Stacey Hardesty of Washington City was arrested on multiple counts on theft, receiving stolen property and identity fraud on Dec. 8.

According to a press release from the St. George Police Department, Hardesty’s vehicle was caught driving away from the scene of a storage shed robbery on surveillance video. In the robbery which took place in the early hours of Dec. 7, approximately $30,000 worth of new furniture was taken, along with some household items.

The surveillance video led investigators to the Hardesty’s location, and he was subsequently arrested. Numerous items from the storage shed allegedly robbed by Hardesty were also located.

Prior to his arrest, Hardesty was already considered a suspect in two active fraud cases involving a victim’s personal identity and credit cards. The amount charged to the stolen credit cards totaled $3000.

Hardesty was booked on two counts of receiving stolen property, two counts of theft, two counts of fraudulent use of a credit card, and two counts of unauthorized use of a credit card.

The arrest came about due to the joint efforts of the Washington County Area Drug and Gang Task Force and the St. George Police Department.
