ST. GEORGE – A collision between two vehicles on S. Mall Drive early this evening resulted in one going over an embankment and into a ravine, with driver and passenger injured.
A red SUV, thought to be a Jeep Cherokee, was traveling Northbound on S. Mall Drive this evening when a white passenger car heading Eastbound at a stop sign pulled out in front of the SUV and the two collided. Sgt. Craig Harding of the St. George Police Department said the red SUV continued in a big semi-circle over some landscaping, rocks, through a parking lot and off of an embankment into a ravine.
“There were two people in the red SUV, and four people (two adults and two children) in the white passenger car,” said Harding.
The driver of the red SUV was life flighted to Las Vegas and his wife was taken to Dixie Regional Medical Center.
“We are going to meet back at the scene at 7 a.m. tomorrow and reconstruct the accident, do diagrams and take photos,” Harding said.
“Speed does not appear to be a factor, and there is no indication of alcohol or drugs” factoring into the accident, he said. “We will answer those [questions] in our investigation.” He did not know the names of the parties involved.
