ST. GEORGE – The Sears Art Museum Gallery at the Dixie State College of Utah Dolores Doré Eccles Fine Arts Center unveils a new fall ensemble exhibit featuring the works of six talented Southern Utah artists.

The exhibit will officially open on Oct. 21, and will be open to the public Monday through Friday weekly, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., through Jan. 27, 2012. Admission is free.

“The Color of Consciousness” is a bright and vibrant exhibit showcasing the paintings of: Ginny Northcott; Janet Tenneson-McCarty; Fae Ellsworth; Serena Supplee; Sophie Soprano; and Jennifer Rasmussen.

A special free artist reception, at which patrons may meet each of the six artists and discuss their works, will be held on Oct. 21, from 7-9 p.m.

Color and content are terms that can easily define these fine artists; however, each artist provides a glimpse into their own inner vision through complex, enigmatic fusion of emotion and mastery. Old boundaries come tumbling down and a new reality emerges.

The exhibit will feature a number of brilliant and colorful paintings depicting a wide range of objects and themes, ranging from scenery on the Colorado Plateau, Greek and Native American mythology, to life in historic Spring City, Utah.

“The Color of Consciousness” will be inspirational and pleasing to the eye.

“This is a collection of artists who come together with fresh style and content,” said Kathy Cieslewicz, curator of the Sears Art Museum Gallery. “It’s a pleasure to bring together artists and their art to inspire and uplift viewers. This endeavor has resulted in a brilliant exhibit that enhances the experience of visiting the beautiful Sears Museum Gallery.”
