HILDALE – Washington County Sheriff’s deputies assisted a 25-year-old woman who was reportedly trying to leave her residence in Colorado City, Ariz.

Detective Nate Abbott said officers responded to the Colorado City home on Oct. 10 to keep the peace so the female could leave her home. She then arrived at another residence in Hildale.

“She asked for assistance in leaving the community. Sheriff’s deputies facilitated her request and she peacefully left the area,” Abbott said.

Abbott said the Washington County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has taken over the case, but he said he was not sure whether any arrests had been made. It was unclear whether the woman was fearful of leaving, or whether children were involved.

FOX 13 News reports the woman is a wife of Warren Jeffs. (See Fox 13 story here)

“Sources tell FOX 13 the woman is one of Jeffs’ many wives, who has tried to leave the community before. She sought refuge on Monday at the home of ex-FLDS spokesman Willie Jessop. Law enforcement was then contacted.”
