WASHINGTON COUNTY – Ernest Roger Garcia, 53, from West Valley, was booked this evening on one count of kidnapping.

Capt. James Van Fleet of the St. George Police Department said that officers have been looking for Garcia for a couple of days until this evening when he was ascertained in Washington County.

Garcia had come down here and was staying with family friends. At some point during his stay, Van Fleet said the husband left the house leaving his wife, the victim, home alone with Garcia.

“Garcia then tied up the wife, he did not physically or sexually assault her so we do not know what his motive was,” said Van Fleet. He said the suspect pushed the victim down and tied her up.

“She was tied up for approximately 90 minutes,” said Van Fleet, “when she got loose and ran to the neighbors for help. The suspect then fled.”

St. George News is not privy to what happened during those 90 minutes.
