Flyers look to get back to their winning ways against Falcons

ST. GEORGE – The Dixie Flyers (4-2, 1-2) host the Canyon View Falcons (2-3, 0-2) tonight at Dixie High School at 7 p.m.

The Flyers are on a two-game losing streak after winning their first four games, and need their defense to start to pick it up and play like they did in non-Region play. The Flyers defense is giving up 41 points per game in Region play. It’s a good thing the Flyers have one of the best offenses in the state, scoring 40.5 points per game.

The Flyers are led by quarterback Blake Barney who could pass two big millstones with a big game against the Falcons. Barney is one touchdown pass away from throwing 20 touchdowns on the year and has thrown for 1,533 yards and could get to the 2000 yard mark in the next few weeks.

The Falcons are also on a losing streak, after winning their first two games the Falcons have lost three straight. And unlike their Cedar City counterpart, the Falcons played one of the easiest non-Region schedules in the state.

The Falcons passing game is nowhere to be found, only throwing for 62 yards per game in Region play. The running game is not much better averaging only 63 yards per game in Region play. Last week the Falcons did rush for 200 yards in a non-Region loss to Ogden.

Pat’s Pick: Dixie
