Storm blanks on Colorado Christian

GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. – The Dixie State College women’s soccer team closed out a three-match trip to Colorado with an emphatic 3-0 victory over Colorado Christian University in a non-conference match.

Dixie State improved to 2-3 on the season by playing aggressive and outshooting the Cougars 21-5 during the match.

Kimberly Thurman put the Storm on the scoreboard in the 44th minute. She scored to the right side off a beautiful through ball from Kristen Knight.

Whitley Davis assisted on the final two goals; the first sent to Camille Jensen off a corner kick at 68:59.

Jennifer Mason took a Davis through ball and maneuvered it around the CCU goalkeeper for the final score in the 81st minute.

Abby Johnson faced five shots and made one save to earn the shutout win.

Dixie State faces one non-conference battle against Cal Baptist on Wednesday. The Storm and Lancers are set to play three times this year, with the final two counting in the Pacific West.

Match is set for a 4 p.m. Mountain time start in Riverside, Calif.
