ST. GEORGE – Tickets for the 77th annual Dixie Round-Up Rodeo, taking place Sept. 15, 16 and 17, went on sale Saturday at the St. George Veterans of Foreign Wars Building, 301 E. 100 S., St. George.

Tickets for the rodeo cannot be purchased online. The prices, except as otherwise noted for particular events, are:  Adults, $12 for reserved seating and $8 for general admission. Children 11 and younger are $5. Buying tickets in advance is encouraged because the rodeo is traditionally a sold out event.

According to its website, The St. George Lion’s Club utilizes proceeds from the event to provide local scholarships, cover medical bills for children in need, and to build houses for Habitat for Humanity. It also raises money for the Utah Eye Bank, Leader Dogs for the Blind, The Dove Center, Lights for Life, Boys & Girls State, Quest For Best, Eye Glasses for Kids, Dixie Little League, American Legion Team, and High School Rodeo Clubs.

The Dixie Round-Up Rodeo welcomes local and top 10 Professional Rodeo Cowboy Association talent to compete in this year’s event. The kick-off festivities included a concert by Against the Grain held in the Sun Bowl Saturday.

The annual Dixie Round-Up Rodeo Parade will take place on Sept. 17, at 5 p.m. starting at 200 West and Tabernacle and convening on 400 East. This year the children’s parade will combine with the main parade, and it also begins at 5 p.m. Entries for the parade are still available and may be registered online.

All three nights of the rodeo have a different theme to represent various members of the public.

Thursday night is Children’s Night. (For this event, admission is free for children 11 years and younger with a paying adult.)

Friday is Tough Enough to Wear Pink Night and $1 from each ticket is donated to breast cancer awareness. For the past three years, $34,000 has been donated to the Dixie Regional Medical Center for the cause. The public is encouraged to wear pink to add to the fun.

Saturday night is Final’s night where top ten PRCA cowboys will compete at the best night of rodeo action.

The Dixie Round-Up Rodeo royalty helps make the annual events a success, and this year’s royalty is no exception. On the days leading up to the rodeo, the royalty will visit 16 local elementary schools in order to support the Washington County School District Foundation; however, this year the royalty will have a special guest accompany them: “Miss Rodeo Utah, Jamie Udell, will tour the local elementary schools [with the local royalty] and be there for the parade,” said Jerry Parker, Lion’s Club media, publicity and information director.

More information on the Dixie Round-Up Rodeo and related events is available on the St. George Lions Club website.
