NORTH SANPETE – The Snow Canyon Warriors got their first victory of the season over the North Sanpete Hawks 19-14.
The Warrior coaching staff wanted to take the pressure off quarterback Brayden Linde by running the ball efficiently. Running backs Mitch Phillips and Brandon McFarland answered the challenge, each rushing for a touchdown.
Phillips rushed for 108 yards on 21 carries taking the pressure off Linde. Linde still had a great game throwing for 211 yards and a touchdown.
The Snow Canyon defense had a big game forcing four turnovers and four sacks. Junior corner back Gabe Jensen had an interception and a fumble recovery to help lead the Warriors to their first victory of the year.
The 1-2 Snow Canyon Warriors start Region play Friday night at 7pm against the 2-1 Canyon View Falcons at Canyon View High School.
