Enterprise candidates hope to serve the community

elections

ENTERPRISE – As part of our commitment to keep the community informed, St. George News has contacted, to our best ability, each person running for City Council. The following, in no particular order, are your candidates for Enterprise.

Barry Jones

I have been a resident of Enterprise for 5 years and teach at Enterprise High School. I am a husband and father, my wife, Linda Jones, is a fantastic mother and wife, and teaches at Enterprise High School also. I have six wonderful children, Jason and his wife Hailey, Mitch, Kim and her husband Mike Casperson, Travis, Kami and her husband Brandon Gallegos, and Ryan who is on an LDS mission in Spain; plus four grandchildren that love their grandfather immensely! The Jones family likes to go boating, camping, horse riding and hiking.

What is the single most important reason you are running for this position? What do you hope to change/accomplish in Enterprise?

I am running for City Council because I am committed and dedicated to the great City of Enterprise. I have seen how great the people are in this valley; they all pull together through tough times and through good times. We truly have some of the best people in the world living is this valley.

If I am elected, I would like to carry on the rich traditions that our forefathers have set; God, family, school, and support for this great country.  I would listen to the needs of the community, making decisions that would be best for our community. Truly, as a people, we are going through some tough times and I think we all need to rally around each other for support.

Jared Bollinger

I grew up in a small farming community, not much different than Enterprise, in southern Illinois.  I have lived in Enterprise with my wife, Mandi, and our son, Parker, since 2004, but have family ties that go back to the original settlers of Enterprise. I am currently serving the community on the City Planning Commission, which I have been on since 2005 and have served as the Chairman since 2009.

What is the single most important reason you are running for this position? What do you hope to change/accomplish in Enterprise?

The single most important reason that I am running for city council is to serve the community that I call home by helping to maintain the qualities of life that we enjoy in our city.

I hope that by being on the City Council, I can, for the most part, not change Enterprise. I want it to stay the wonderful place that it is. However, I would like to see it improve and have more activities for the younger generations of children that are returning “back home” with their parents who grew up here.
