LAS VEGAS – The Snow Canyon Warriors (0-2) were down 30-14 with one quarter to go. Past Warrior teams may have hung their heads and just tried to keep the game close; playing a team that was bigger and faster, but not a team led by quarterback Brayden Linde. Linde lead the Warriors on two 4th quarter scoring drives.
Down 16 points, the Warriors knew if they scored they would have to go for two. The first scoring drive ended on a 15-yard touchdown pass to Cooper Robinson. Then came the two-point try; and after another pass to Robinson the Wildcat lead was down to eight.
The second drive stalled in Wildcat territory and kicker Jorge Benevides came on and made a 35-yard field goal to cut the lead to five. The Wildcats ran out the clock, not giving Linde and the Warrior offense another chance to win the game.
Vegas won the game 30-25 but coach Graft was very happy with how much the Warriors improved from their week 1 loss.
Linde had a great game, shaking off a week 1 concussion. Linde was 17-30 passing for 218 yards and two touchdowns to two different receivers. Conner Livingston was Linde’s main target, gaining 142 yards to go along with the touchdown. Robinson had the other touchdown and gained 56 yards.
The warriors were without leading rusher, Taylor Johanson, who was out with a week 1 injury (concussion).
The Warriors have a week off before they head north to North Sanpete on September 9.
