The Dixie Flyers are flying high coming into the second week of the season.
Last week, the Flyers flew past Springville in a shootout, 41-35. The Flyers are led by Blake Barney, who leads Region 9 in passing yards (344) and passing touchdowns (4). Barney also rushed for 72 yards and one rushing touchdown, bringing his total to five touchdowns after week one, which also leads Region 9.
The Flyers defense will again be the focal point; they gave up 40 or more points in four of last seasons seven losses. The Flyers gave up 413 passing yards against Springville but got their biggest stop of the game when it mattered most, in overtime. If Barney has another outstanding game, the Flyers will start the season 2-0.
