ST. GEORGE – Police temporarily closed down 2250 South to 1650 East in the Little Valley area this afternoon after a neighbor called saying he heard a single gun shot.

Dispatch told St. George News that the road was closed around 2:30 p.m. as a precaution and the entire incident was wrapped up by 4:30 p.m.

According to the police report, multiple officers and SWAT were called on scene after an intoxicated man barricaded himself inside his home. No threats were made and no one was injured.

The report states no crimes were committed and the man was not intoxicated enough to be cited for public intoxication. It is unclear whether the man will be cited for discharging a firearm in city limits.

Dispatch said SWAT did not enter the home and was only called out because they did not know the man’s intentions. No charges are being pursued and police were told to “stand down” and wrapped up the incident within two hours of the initial call.
