ST. GEORGE – Dixie State College of Utah’s Department of Music is presenting a special string chamber spring concert on Sunday, April 17, at 7:30 p.m., at the DSC Dolores Dore’ Eccles Fine Arts Center Concert Hall.
The program, under the direction of DSC music faculty member James Hardy, will feature performances by three student ensembles, beginning with Handel’s Trio Sonata, Op. 2 No. 3, featuring Jaesi Christian and Shelley Sullivan on violin, Tresa Goodrich on cello, and Terry Lamoreaux on the harpsichord.
The program will also include Jean Fracaix Trio for Violin, Viola and Cello, with Tara Tichenor on violin, McKenzie Warren on viola, and Mattison Warren on cello. The concert will conclude with a Joaquin Turina piece entitled Piano Quartet in A-minor, Op. 67, with KateLyn Wall on violin; Jillene Ostler on viola; Kim Jones on cello; and Emma Nelson on piano.
“This will be a very enjoyable evening of chamber music from three countries – England, France and Spain,” Hardy said. “Our chamber musicians will be performing works written from the early 1800’s up through the mid-1900’s in a variety of combinations. It will be an interesting and enjoyable variety of styles.”
General admission tickets for each concert will be available at the door for $5 for adults and $1 for DSC students and faculty and staff with current ID. For tickets and further information, please call 435-652-7800 or visit the central campus ticket office at the DSC Avenna Center. Patrons may also purchase tickets online at “tickets.dixie.edu.”
In addition to the on-campus performance, the DSC string chamber ensemble will play a special encore performance at the St. George Opera House on Monday, April 18, at 6 p.m., as part of a new collaboration with the City of St. George.
