On April 9-10, local artists, students and professional street painters, including feature painter Julie Kirk-Purcell, and create a colorful chalk explosion to raise money for the Kayenta Arts Foundation.

With the asphalt as a canvas and chalk as the medium, large murals will unfold at the feet of thousands of spectators,” said festival coordinator Aimee Bonham. “This collaborative performance art event will feature live music, fabulous cuisine, a
student competition and an interactive chalk area for youngsters. Proceeds from the
Festival support the Kayenta Arts Foundation.”

KAF’s mission is to develop and create an environment that fosters diverse artistic endeavors for educational and enrichment purposes, Bonham said.

KAF has previously donated five workshops to Washington County Schools free of charge thanks to Kayenta Homes.

The art festival will be held at Coyote Gulch Art Village in Ivins. For more information, visit or email [email protected]
