SANTA CLARA – Lori, a 42-year-old single mom, spent long days running her chain of local coffee shops, Perks, and trying to convince her teenage son to find his dream and finish high school.

Lori herself had a dream to find someone to spend her limited free time with and love her the way she needed to be loved. She had no idea her dream would take her to Canada.

Ron, a 44-year-old single father of three, spent his days working as a foreman in an oil field valve shop. At night, he tended his three children, worked in his garden and pursued his passion of song writing and playing the guitar. Ron hoped to find a good woman to take the journey of life with.

One evening, in July 2007, Ron and Lori found love in their inbox. They received a match by eHarmony. They began communicating through email and then phone calls. Within two months, they had fallen in love.

They finally met on Nov. 16, 2007, when Lori flew to Calgary, Alberta, to meet the man she knew she loved. After two weeks, Ron delivered “the most romantic, passionate, and long-winded, proposal.”

They were married five weeks later on Jan. 12, 2008.
