ST. GEORGE – Dixie State College of Utah’s music department will host renowned violinist Alice Hallstrom for a special master class and performance on Thursday, Feb. 17, from 4:00-5:30 p.m., at the DSC Dolores Dore’ Eccles Fine Arts Center Concert Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
Ms. Hallstrom, who will be in St. George to perform with the Southwest Symphony the following evening on Friday, Feb. 18, will join four DSC string students – McKenzie Warren; Tara Tichenor; Catherine Edie (viola); and KateLyn Wall, in this special instructional engagement. Hallstrom, who began her string studies at age 2 ½, has studied at Eastman School of Music in the preparatory division. She holds a Bachelor Degree in Violin Performance from SUNY-Purchase and continued her studies at Julliard, where she earned a master’s degree. Hallstrom has performed with the Atlanta Ballet Orchestra, Atlanta Symphony, Utah Symphony and Nashville Chamber Orchestra.
