HURRICANE – Red Dog Events has released a brand new course for the inaugural Sand Hollow Marathon to be held March 26 in Hurricane, Utah.

With spectacular scenery, amazing local support and an incredible running community, this new marathon will be 26.2 miles that will test each runner’s limits in the best way possible.

The race will start at the Hurricane Community Center in downtown Hurricane, then runners will head south through town to burn off that “marathon pump.” Runners will pass pioneer homes and fields that have been cultivated for over 100 years.

About the time you look at runners check their watches to see their pace, they will start a gradual climb into the neighborhood of Angels Heights, running alongside towering cliffs on the left and world famous peach orchards on the right.

Runners then start what the locals call “the loop” that will take them to Sand Hollow. The remainder of the course takes runners near some of the country’s most amazing golf courses and great views of Zion National Park. For a full course map, visit www.sandhollowmarathon.com.

This marathon is like no other in that the race organizers believe in the power of the marathon to change lives, empower people and create a sense of pride in the community while running hard and having a lot of fun.

“Although we will have runners from all over the West, the running community in Southern Utah is very excited about this event and we expect our local runners to make this a tremendous race,” said Race Organizer Jason Smith. “The Sand Hollow Marathon is a great early-season race because runners will be able to train in the cooler months instead of the brutal summer heat.”

Race producer, Red Dog Events, is an eclectic mix of four friends who are passionate about providing athletes a venue to compete is a friendly, fun and creative environment.

“We run, we race and we listen, as well,” Smith said. “We have experience in running, cycling, swimming, triathlon, and empowering athletes.”

Red Dog will be hosting a series of events in the Hurricane Valley area in 2011 and will be posting a schedule of the events before the race day of March 26. Visit Sand Hallow Marathon online at www.facebook.com/sandhollowmarathon.
