Recent Prostitution Sting Nets Mostly Non Residents

St. George Utah Police

ST. GEORGE – Police say that local residents are learning that prostitution will not be tolerated in Washington County after a sting operation last night netted nine males – most of them from out of the area.

Officer Johnny Heppler said he hopes those committing the misdemeanor will go elsewhere as the police department has no intentions of stopping the sting operations. The sting operations are part of the police department’s policy to be proactive instead of reactive, and prevent crime before it becomes a bigger problem in the area.

Last night’s sting operation was one of several the police departments in Washington and Iron Counties have done in the last year. Heppler said this operation was no different than any of the others and he believes the lack of local arrests was due to people realizing that the police department has a no-tolerance policy for this kind of crime.

Out of the nine males arrested last night, one male was a business entrepreneur from Las Vegas who often contributes large amounts of donations to political campaigns and children’s charities. The other males resided in Nevada, Idaho, Colorado City, Arizona, Colorado, West Jordan, St. George and Ivins.
