ST. GEORGE — Morris Peacock, managing partner of HintonBurdick CPAs & Advisors, announced that the Arizona-based accounting firm of Frost, Stephens & Company P.C. merged with HintonBurdick effective January 1, 2011. The merger will extend HintonBurdick’s reach into Arizona and will allow the firm to better serve their Arizona clientele and provide more opportunities for future business growth throughout Arizona, including the Greater Phoenix area.
Kenneth Frost in 1964 founded Frost, Stephens & Company in Flagstaff, Arizona. Steady growth has marked the company’s progress. In 1993 Kenneth Frost retired, leaving his son, Mark, to run the business. In 2005, with another partner, Kevin Stephens, in place the firm was renamed Frost, Stephens & Company P.C. It operates out of Flagstaff with three CPAs and a total of twelve employees.
In a letter to clients announcing the merger, Mark Frost and Kevin Stephens affirmed their intention “to maintain the same small-town, quality service” but with access to a larger staff and more extensive expertise on specialized areas. “The merger,” they noted, “will give us the ability to handle the large-scale, complex issues that have previously made it necessary for potential clients to look to Phoenix and the larger firms located there. Starting now, we can honestly say that there is no job too big or too small for us to handle.”
Commenting on the planned merger from HintonBurdick’s perspective, Peacock pointed out that “this merger not only gives us direct access to a new market and client base but does so by means of a long-established accounting firm that, like HintonBurdick, values its relationship with the community it serves. From the first stages of our negotiations, we have been impressed to see how the values and priorities of Frost, Stephens & Company coincide with ours. For HintonBurdick, for Frost, Stephens, and especially for both companies’ clients, this can be nothing but a win-win situation.”
Established in 1975, HintonBurdick has grown to become one of the largest accounting firms in the state of Utah. The company provides accounting and audit services, litigation support, computer training and systems management, payroll services, tax planning and consulting services to clients in 47 states and some foreign countries. Offices are located in St. George, Cedar City, Hurricane, and Richfield, Utah, Mesquite, Nevada, and Flagstaff, Arizona.
