PHOENIX, AZ – Dixie State sophomore guard Chanel Maxey (Anaheim, CA/Canyon) has been named the Pacific West Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week. The award was announced by the PacWest Media Office in Phoenix, AZ, on Monday, Dec. 13, for games contested Dec. 6-12. Maxey was named to the All-Tournament Team at Alaska Anchorage over the weekend after averaging 16.5 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.0 three-pointers made per game. She ranked second in three’s made, fourth in scoring and 13th in rebounding for the week in the PacWest. Maxey also ranked second in shooting (64.7%) for the week in the conference after making 11 of 17 field goal attempts, while she drained 61.5% (8 for 13) of her attempts from beyond the arc.
This marks the third time this season that a Dixie State player has been named PacWest Player of the Week. Breann Hill earned the honor for the week of Dec 6th and Johnna Brown earned it for the week of Nov. 22nd.

The Red Storm (8-1) will host two games at home this weekend in the Dixie State Christmas Tournament. They are scheduled to play College of Saint Mary (NE) Saturday at 5:00 PM in the Burns Arena and depending on the outcome of that game, will determine who and what time they play on Sunday.
