Deputy finds 50 pounds of marijuana during traffic stop

WASHINGTON COUNTY – On Nov. 20, a Washington County Sheriff’s deputy stopped a vehicle on Interstate 15 for a traffic violation. During the traffic stop, the deputy discovered 50 pounds of marijuana, which was packaged for distribution. The two male occupants, who were from California, were arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.

Deputies also discovered drug paraphernalia and suspected amphetamines in the vehicle. The driver was charged with driving with a measurable controlled substance and the traffic violation, in addition to the possession of marijuana.
