XC: Dixie State men finish 18th, women 24th at NCAA Regional meet

BELLINGHAM, WA-November 20, 2010-The Dixie State College Men's and Women's Cross Country team competed today in the NCAA Regional Championships in Bellingham, WA at Lake Paden Park. Running in tempatures around freezing and an overnight snow showers the men finished 18th and the women 24th.

Alaska Anchorage swept the team championships in both the men's and women's races. The individual title went to Marko Chesto from Alaska Anchorage with a time of 31:20.8 in the 10K men's race. In the women's 6k race Sarah Porter from Western Washington University finished with a time of 21:21.9.

For the Red Storm men, Luke Peck was the top finisher at 97th with a time of 36:25.1. Followed by Willy Heinrich (113th) with a 37:50.7, Tason Turek (115th) with a 38:26.3, Sean Seavy (116th) with a 38:26.8, Cody Pitcher (122nd) with a 39:41.3, and Taylor Stout (124th) with a 41:22.6.

For the Red Storm women, Skyler Tarver led the ladies pack at 139th with a time of 27:35.3. Followed by Cassidy Ferris (146th) with a 28:!2.4, Kylie Friedel (150th) with a 28:29.4, Haley Miller-Boren (151st) with a 28:34.4, Ashley Judd (152nd) with a 28:35.2, , and Chelsea Barney (153rd) with a 28:37.6.

This concludes the 2010 fall season for the cross country team. This is the first season back for the cross country program at Dixie State after it was suspended in the 2009 season for financial needs.
