Entrance fee to be waived at Zion National Park on Veteran's Day

ZION – This year, Veteran’s Day will again be celebrated as a fee-free day for all park visitors at National Park Service sites across the country. Zion National Park will offer free visitor admission in honor of U.S. veterans, active members of the U.S. armed forces and their families on Thursday, November 11, 2010.

For this Veteran’s Day, fall colors in Zion Canyon will be close to peak. Along with mild temperatures, this will make the fee free day a wonderful opportunity to experience the park.

The fee waiver applies to entrance fees only. The duration of the free permit issued November 11 is for that day only. Fees for commercial vehicles, tunnel escorts, camping, and backcountry permits will not be waived.

This annual fee-free day is in addition to National Public Lands Day, which is another annual fee-free day held in September. Unlike Public Lands Day, which always falls on a Saturday, the Veterans Day fee waiver will apply on November 11, regardless of the day of the week.
