DSC scores early to defeat Chaminade

ST. GEORGE – The Dixie State College men’s soccer team scored three goals in the first half on their way to a 4-0 defeat of Chaminade University at Hansen Stadium on Friday night.
 
The Red Storm started fast with Jordan Roylance finding Zac Hales who deposited the ball in the right hand side of the net in the 2nd minute for his third goal of the season to give DSC a 1-0 lead.
 
Just three minutes later, Tyler Albretsen’s corner kick found Clayton Alexander who headed the ball into the upper right part of the net to give the Red Storm a 2-0 lead. The goal was Alexander’s third of the season.
 
In the 36th minute a Silverswords foul just outside the box, led to Robby Astin’s first goal of the season from 15 yards out. Dixie State took the 3-0 lead into the half.
 
The final goal came in the 83rd minute on a breakaway when Timothy Shue found Jordan Roylance on the left side. He ripped the right corner of the net for his sixth goal of the season.
 
The Red Storm outshot Chaminade 20-4. A DSC goalie did not record a save.  
 
With the win, Dixie State improves to 6-8-1 overall and 5-5-1 in the PacWest. The Silverswords drop to 1-11-1, 0-10-1 in the PacWest.
 
The same teams will do battle on Monday night at Hansen Stadium at 4:30 p.m.
