Brothers arrested on drug, weapon charges

ST. GEORGE – St. George police officers arrested two brothers from Salt Lake City on drug and weapons charges last night at the Bluff Street Park.

Capt. James Van Fleet said officers were patrolling the area when they saw the two men sitting on a curb at the park. While speaking to the men, officers discovered both men had several cash-only warrants.

Officers also discovered the brothers had allegedly been smoking marijuana. While searching one of the brothers, officers discovered a concealed firearm and a knife on one of them, and also allegedly found marijuana on the brothers and in the vehicle they were driving.

Van Fleet said the drug charges were enhanced because the men were within a 1,000 feet of a drug-free zone, the park. He said the weapon charges were enhanced because of the drugs found on the male.
