Shoot out in Thunder stadium

ST. GEORGE – Just like the old west, it was a real shoot out in the Thunder stadium. The Lady Warriors soccer team traveled across town to what many thought would be a regular game. But instead it turned out to be a great game that went into overtime.

It didn't take very long for Desert Hills to strike first with a solid goal at only 4 minutes into the first period. Then it only seemed like a short time later when Desert Hills buried another ball to the back of the net, making it 2-0. It stayed that way through the remainder of the first period.

I'm not sure what the Snow Canyon coach told the Lady Warriors at halftime, but they came out on fire. Within the first couple of minutes of the second period, the Warriors had scored their first goal. But that wasn't the end for either team.

At 36:33 left in the second period, Snow Canyon Struck again with their second goal by Jaycie Shotwell.

Snow Canyon then pulled into the lead at 27:34 remaining. The Warriors Callie Stewart put it past the goalie making it 3-2.

At 19:31, Stewart scored her second goal of the night, but she wasn't through. As the period wore down, the Thunder rolled on past the Warrior goalie to come within one goal at 4-3. The Thunder clapped one more time making the score 4-4 as time ran out in regulation.

It didn't take very long for the Lady Warriors to get the ball to Stewart, who buried it in the back of the net for an overtime win.
