ST. GEORGE – Dixie State College of Utah will present its annual Homecoming Queen Pageant, as part of the school’s week-long Centennial Homecoming festivities, this Tuesday night, Oct. 5, at 7:30 p.m., in the Eccles Fine Arts Center Main Stage Theater on the DSC campus. This year’s pageant theme is “Black and Gold” and tickets are on sale now for $5 per person at the Avenna Center Ticket Office.
In all, 16 contestants will compete for the title of “Miss Dixie State College,” which includes a full tuition scholarship, and an opportunity to compete at the 2011 Miss Utah Pageant next June for a chance to advance to the Miss America Pageant later that year. The pageant hopefuls will be judged in physical fitness/swimwear, evening wear and talent areas of the competition, along with the customary onstage question and personal interview portions of the event.
The pageant, with outgoing DSC Homecoming Queen 2009 Alana Lee and DSC Board of Trustees member Elizabeth Bingham serving as co-emcees, will also feature the contestants performing a dance routine to the Sam Sparro song “Black and Gold.”
In addition, there will be a special DSC Centennial reception, reuniting all the past Dixie Homecoming Queen, prior to the pageant from 6:30-to-7:30 p.m., at the Eccles Fine Arts Center Sears Art Museum Gallery. The reception is free and open to the public and refreshments will be served.
