Sex offender arrested at local park

ST. GEORGE –  On Sept. 17, at approximately 8:30 a.m., patrol officers with the St. George Police Department responded to the city park at 130 N. 2450 E. on a suspicious person call. It was initially reported by a witness that an adult male was at the park acting suspiciously.

The reporting person advised a dispatcher the male was sitting in the park by the restrooms. He allegedly said some things that caused the witness to be concerned and they contacted the police to report the bizarre behavior. The male reportedly made reference to “needing a girl.” Additionally, he specified he need one “right now,” and was “tired of waiting.”

The male was identified as 51 year old Donald L. Keith of 2685 E. 50 S. in St. George. It was determined he was a noncompliant registered sex offender. Keith had not updated his ID with his current address, he failed to update his address with the sex offender registry, and he was out of compliance due to not appearing for his scheduled check in. Keith is a registered sex offender as a result of a 2006 conviction in Arizona.

Donald L. Keith was arrested and booked into jail for three sex offender registry violations and was held on $11,943.00 bail.

This is a tremendous example of community involvement when they observe suspicious activity in their neighborhoods. The St. George Police Department tracks registered sex offenders very closely and checks up on them regularly to ensure they are in compliance. We encourage citizens to report information related to noncompliant registered sex offenders.
