ST. GEORGE – The Utah Association of Realtors recently presented a check for $15,000 to Habitat for Humanity of Southwest Utah. This largest contribution to date to the local Habitat affiliate is from the Utah Association of Realtor’s charitable nonprofit Housing Opportunity Fund and is identified as Washington County’s portion of the interest income from 50-60 brokers’ trust accounts managed by the the association.

According to Linda Baker, Habitat for Humanity of Southwest Utah’s Executive Director:

“We have very much appreciated our eight-year history of support from UARHOF which has enabled us to help several qualified low-income families get into their own home. These funds have been set aside for the construction of our 22nd home in Washington County which will be built in the next year.”

The mission of the Housing Opportunity Fund is “to provide financial resources to support the development of affordable housing opportunities for low-income individuals and families; and to increase awareness of both affordable housing issues and realtor involvement in the community.”
