Scout Expo encourages a love for scouting

ST. GEORGE — The 2018 Dixie Scout Expo Card sales kicked off this week with a great deal of excitement. The expo is being held Feb. 24, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Dixie Center St. George, 1835 S. Convention Center Drive. Expo Cards are being sold as a fundraiser for local Scouting and feature a $20 BSA Expo Starving Student Card that has $400 of free food, entertainment and services, plus an additional $3,500 of discounts at local merchants and restaurants.

The Expo is a large indoor and outdoor booth show with over 100 scouting and community booths showcasing the scouting spirit to the public. It is anticipated that hundreds of local scouts and leaders will be participating in this event.

BSA Executive David Peterson said:

If 20 Cub Scouts and/or Boy Scouts from your Troop or Pack sell 20 tickets that Troop will receive $10 per ticket or $4,000 for their Troop or Pack. Troops can use the funds to help with summer scout camps, purchase camping gear and awards and other items they need. Half of the remaining 50% of the proceeds from the sell of the Expo tickets or $5.00 goes to help with local Scouting. The remaining $5 goes to Starving Students for putting the tickets together.

You can support local scouting by purchasing a $20 ticket for the 2018 Dixie Scout Expo from one of your local scouters. Scouts can win valuable prizes for selling the most tickets, including a chance to win a trip for four to Disneyland.

The expo is a free family event with age appropriate activities for everyone. Attendance at the Expo will expose you and your family to fun activities and scout booths, entertainment, and more.
