ST. GEORGE – Ceramic potters in Southern Utah or around the world know creating an artistic vessel from clay is an ancient art in which the artist takes the elements of raw earth to create something beautiful as well as useful. Each step in the pottery process is, in itself, an art form.
Whether you are experienced working with ceramics and have created dozens of stunning works of art from a lump of clay or a beginner who has never been near a potter’s wheel, please plan to attend the “Pot Throw” on Jan. 30 in preparation for the upcoming and very popular “Soup N’ Bowl” fundraiser for the St. George Art Museum.
On Jan. 30, from 3-6 p.m. in the ceramics classroom at Dixie State University, potters and would-be potters, with the help of DSU arts faculty and students, will be part of the fun of creating bowls to be filled with delicious soup at the upcoming 13th annual Soup N’ Bowl luncheon and fundraising event on March 6.
For more information about the “Pot Throw,” to purchase tickets for the “Soup N’ Bowl” fundraising luncheon and silent auction, or for more on current and upcoming exhibits, call the St. George Art Museum at 435-627-4525.
