LAS VEGAS – The Southern Nevada Musical Arts Society opens its 52nd season with a Haydn/Mendelssohn/Mozart Masterworks Concert Sunday, Nov. 2, at 3 p.m. in the Artemus W. Ham Concert Hall at University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
The 70-voice Musical Arts Chorus and professional Musical Arts Orchestra will perform three masterworks: “Ave verum corpus,” a lovely Latin motet by W. A. Mozart; an inspiring Christmas cantata, “Vom Himmel hoch” (From Heaven on High) by Mendelssohn; and the majestic “Harmoniemesse” (wind band mass) composed by Joseph Haydn at the height of his powers.
