ST. GEORGE — In celebration of reaching the milestone 60 years old, the Friends of Snow Canyon State Park is hosting a photo contest.

The contest began March 1 and continues through May 1, so grab your camera and hit the trails! Photos can be submitted in the following three categories:

• People at Play: Take action shots of people doing a favorite activity or taking part in the park’s 60th anniversary celebration activities. For a list of these, visit the park office, or the FSC website.
• Along the Trail: What do you see, hear, smell, experience along the trail? Send photos of your favorite scenery, plants and wildlife.
• Just for Kids: Open to children 14 and under. Send your favorite photos taken in Snow Canyon State Park.

Contest rules

• Submit any photo taken in Snow Canyon State Park by May 1, 2019.
• Color or black and white photos accepted. Submit as .jpg or from your phone.
• Entrants may submit up to five photos.
• Submit photos to [email protected]
• Type PHOTO CONTEST in the subject line of the email. In the body of the email include your name, phone number and the category you would like to enter. Multiple photos can be sent in one email.
• In the “Just For Kids” category include the name and age of the child and the name and phone number of a parent.
• You will retain the rights to any photograph you submit. Friends of Snow Canyon would like to reserve the right to use your photographs on our website, in social media, email campaigns, brochures, annual report and promotional materials.
• Please stay on designated trails and help us preserve the park for future generations.

Judging and prizes

• The Friends Board will select and announce the contest winners by May 15, 2019.
• Friends of Snow Canyon will publish the winning photographs on friendsofsnowcanyon.org.
• First prize winners in the categories People at Play and Along the Trail will receive a Snow Canyon State Park Desert Discovery Pass. Two honorable mention winners will have their choice of a Snow Canyon T-shirt or Ball Cap.k
• In the “Just For Kids” category three winners will be announced and awarded a framed copy of their photo.
