Tuesday, April 23, at 5:49 p.m. MDT, a full moon in the fixed Water sign of Scorpio will grace the Southern Utah sky.

Full moons, which indicate culminations, endings and emotional declarations, illuminate issues that have been building beneath the surface. The energy begins to build three days leading up to the full moon and continues to influence us for the next two weeks.

Tuesday’s full moon activates the Taurus-Scorpio axis: form and creation versus disintegration and loss. Earth sign Taurus prefers the tangible reality that can be experienced through the five senses. Scorpio prefers that which is not tangible, drawn to the mysterious complexities of the unknowable depths.

A full moon in Scorpio magnifies these qualities, especially on an emotional level. It’s likely that secrets will be unveiled and passion is cranked up. What makes this full moon even more powerful is that it also will be forming a square with Scorpio’s ruler Pluto, a planet associated with the birth-death life cycle and its regenerative forces.

This could indicate increased tension due to power struggles. With the sun, moon and Pluto all in Fixed signs, people are more likely to be stubborn. Practice patience, acceptance and flexibility, especially with yourself. Creating space instead of fighting would be better if things get heated, as finding common ground will be harder to come by.

But it’s also important to note that friction is often needed for change like flint and steel ignite a fire. Inner strength and psychological health come as a byproduct of overcoming adversity.

Also this week, on Thursday, April 25, at 6:54 a.m., Mercury will station direct, ending its retrograde. Difficulties with communication, transportation and technology should begin to recede.

So what does all of this mean for you? Find out below.

Aries
March 21-April 19

This week marks a transformative time for you, dear Aries, as the full moon highlights your eighth house of shared resources, intimacy and power. The eighth house is associated with the energy of the Phoenix rising from the ashes. And it may be that you have had to leave something behind or in the process of doing so. You may now begin to catch a glimpse of what’s beginning to take root. Part of this new development may cause some friction within social circles, but not necessarily in a negative way. It may be that the dynamic is changing or you may not be as available as you used to be due to budding obligations.

Taurus
April 20-May 20

Since the solar eclipse occurred in your sign two weeks ago, your attention has largely been on your personal development, dear Taurus. Now, with this week’s full moon illuminating your partnership sector, ongoing issues within relationships are likely to reach a crossroads and need attention. You may be called to help, which means temporarily placing your needs on the back burner. This isn’t about ignoring your needs or neglecting yourself, but rather recalibrating the give and take with a close someone. This doesn’t necessarily indicate an intimate bond. With the moon’s aspect to Pluto in your 10th house, the tension could surround a relationship with an authority or father figure. Engagements, marriages, breakups or divorces could be in store for some.

Gemini
May 21–June 20

With this full moon falling in your sector of health, work and service, this could be a time when you feel empowered to quit a bad habit or clean up your daily routine, dear Gemini. Work projects could see a culmination. Your focus is pulled toward your work-life balance and how well you feel connected to the service you provide. If you’ve lost passion for your work, an increased desire to escape could simmer to the surface. Listen to what comes up for you. Rather than escaping into unhealthy habits, perhaps it’s time to consider whether your job is the right fit. Part of this could be tied to changes in your perspective and beliefs.

Cancer
June 21–July 22

This luminous full moon may seem like a call from your heart, dear Cancer, as it activates your fifth house of pleasure, romance, children and hobbies. While recent weeks have had you focused on far-reaching dreams, friendships and your connection to humanity, this full moon wants to know: What is it that makes you truly happy? The need to express yourself is amplified and could inspire you to pour your heart out to someone. A romantic getaway could be in store for some. Friction with Pluto in your eighth house could enhance a need for intimacy, or indicate some power struggles related to shared resources.

Leo
July 23–August 22

Much attention has been on your career in recent weeks, dear Leo, but this full moon pulls you home. A family member may ask for your help, such as staying with you, or it could be you who requires help from a loved one. Increased tension in the house could be felt, especially surrounding an imbalance in divvying up domestic duties. Home renovations could see completion. In between the stress of your professional and personal life is possible strain in a close relationship, which could have something to do with the stress of trying to carry too much. The path to peace may not be as far as it seems. Try to work from the inside out.

Virgo
Aug. 23–Sept. 22

This week’s full moon activates your sector of communication, short-distance travel and perspective, dear Virgo. Lunar energy in the third house puts an emphasis on a need to deal with the mundane. There are phone calls to make, paperwork to complete and errands to run, which may increase a desire to hitch a ride toward a sunnier horizon. And this feeling could be increased by work or health matters driving up your stress. But it’s during times like these that you thrive! It’s time to exercise your keen organizational abilities and tackle one thing at a time. Adventure waits on the other side of a to-do list. Creative writing and activities done with your hands are highly favored at this time.

Libra
Sept. 23–Oct. 22

Following a lunar eclipse in your sign, this week’s full moon illuminates your sector of values, dear Libra. Financial matters may simmer to the surface now and require your attention. You’re drawn to creature comforts and could feel a little more impulsive when it comes to spending money, especially on things that indulge the five senses. This lunar energy could push you to strike a balance between the give and take in relationships, between what’s yours and what’s shared. As a result, romance can wax and wane over the next two weeks for those in an established partnership. A creative breakthrough could be in store for some.

Scorpio
Oct. 23–Nov. 21

This is your full moon, dear Scorpio, and matters related to your body and identity are illuminated now. You’re likely to desire more attention, and feelings of neglect or abandonment may simmer to the surface if things have become imbalanced in a relationship. Conversely, a partner may require more attention now, and you may have to put your needs aside. As a result, your home environment can feel a little more tense now. Take time to nurture yourself. Self-neglect will only exacerbate relational conflicts. The light is on you, and leadership skills could be put to the test. With your ruler Pluto’s aspect to the full moon, you could be feeling restless or emotionally wrung out.

Sagittarius
Nov. 22–Dec. 21

This full moon illuminates your 12th house of spirituality, compassion and the subconscious, dear Sagittarius. It’s likely a secret could be exposed over the next two weeks. It’s a good time not to share things with others that you don’t want coming to light. You could experience an inner tug-of-war between work and health matters and a desire to escape. Let the pull to escape become an inquiry: from what are you wanting to escape? Identifying the source of discomfort is the key to releasing it. Conversations may be spicier than usual. If you need to have a talk with someone, it would be wise to wait until after Mercury turns direct later this week.

Capricorn
Dec. 22–Jan. 19

A full moon in your 11th house lights up your sector of friendships and associations, dear Capricorn, and you may feel dissonance in how you connect with others. Perhaps you’ve become out of touch with yourself or your authenticity feels stifled in the company of others. As a result, you could be looking to weed out people from your social circle. But take a pause first. What is at the root of disconnection? For some, this could be linked to values; perhaps, your value system no longer aligns with a friend or acquaintance. For others, this could point to issues with self-worth that are impacting you from freely expressing your true self.

Aquarius
Jan. 20–Feb. 18

This full moon illuminates your sector of career and reputation, dear Aquarius. You’re in the limelight now, which means it’s time to put your best self forward. But part of this may mean addressing emotional or familial needs so that you can be clear-headed when it comes to your career or long-term goals. Circumstances on either end could surface, forcing you to strike a work-life balance, but it’s also about you. Torn between your personal and professional life, you could recognize some estrangement with yourself. This is not due to a loss of self, but the massive change beginning to unfold as Pluto begins its decadeslong transit through your sign.

Pisces
Feb. 19 – March 20

This full moon in fellow water sign Scorpio signifies a time when you are likely to experience a significant paradigm shift in the way you see and understand the world, dear Pisces. In your ninth house of spirituality, higher wisdom and long-distance traveling, this lunar energy sparks curiosity and a desire to bring more spontaneity and adventure into your life. Some could be graduating or seeing a culmination related to academics. The need to fill out documents or communicate regarding an ongoing legal situation or travel could be in store for some. A desire to escape could be brewing below the surface and could have to do with something that has come to an end. But if you can take a mini vacation, it could feel deeply restorative.
