ST. GEORGE — A woman complained of neck pain but declined medical treatment after her car was rear-ended by another vehicle on River Road Wednesday afternoon.
The incident was reported shortly after 1:30 p.m. near 600 S. River Road. The collision involved a northbound metallic blue Mazda passenger car and a blue-and-gray Dodge pickup with an attached flatbed trailer loaded with a small excavator.
St. George Police officer Tiffany Atkin said the truck crashed into the back of the Mazda after the Mazda’s driver “had stopped because of traffic backed up in front of her.”
Traffic in the area was briefly impacted while the scene was cleared. The Mazda sustained moderate to heavy damage to its rear end and was towed from the scene.
The man driving the Dodge, who was not injured, received a citation for failing to maintain proper following distance, Atkin said.
This report is based on preliminary information provided by law enforcement or other emergency responders and may not contain the full scope of findings.

Tailgating is not only unnecessary, but simply rude as well as stupid driving behavior in this town as well as the local highways. In parts of Canada due to one -two lane roads that go vast distance through rural areas, it is not uncommon for tailgating to occur, but the norm is for the slower traffic to eventually pull over and let the others pass. That is understandable, but this ain’t Canada (nor their super low speed limits) and in 15-20 min you can get from one end of town to another. I often pull over in my residential neighborhood to let tailgaters or those in such a super hurry, to pass by, and do so with courteously. Then < 5min later we are both sitting at the same light at the bottom of the hill waiting.
I’ll bet the woman who complained of neck pain but declined medical treatment will find a lawyer real quick.
